The heat of these pecans is determined by the amount of pepper you use.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups pecans, whole
  • 1/2 cup confectionary (powdered) sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne (red) pepper
  • 4 teaspoons water

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 350-degrees (I use a convection oven)
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicon sheet
  3. Combine the sugar, salt, pepper and water in a medium-sized bowl
  4. Add the pecans to the wet ingredients and gently mix with a spatula until well-coated
  5. Spread the nuts on the paper in a single layer (I use spoon any extra mixture on the sheet to create a tasty brittle)
  6. Bake 10-12 minutes until dark but not burned
  7. I let the nuts cool completely in the pan to ensure they are completely dry
  8. Store in an airtight container

These make a great gift. You can gift in cello bags or kraft coffee bags.
