Spiced Pecans
The heat of these pecans is determined by the amount of pepper you use.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups pecans, whole
- 1/2 cup confectionary (powdered) sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne (red) pepper
- 4 teaspoons water
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 350-degrees (I use a convection oven)
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicon sheet
- Combine the sugar, salt, pepper and water in a medium-sized bowl
- Add the pecans to the wet ingredients and gently mix with a spatula until well-coated
- Spread the nuts on the paper in a single layer (I use spoon any extra mixture on the sheet to create a tasty brittle)
- Bake 10-12 minutes until dark but not burned
- I let the nuts cool completely in the pan to ensure they are completely dry
- Store in an airtight container
These make a great gift. You can gift in cello bags or kraft coffee bags.
